Dr. Carl Spaeth is teaching at Oklahoma State University as a Lecturer of Saxophone and Music Theory during Dr. Jeffrey Loeffert's sabbatical during Fall 2017. His duties include graduate saxophone lessons, graduate music theory review, graduate saxophone pedagogy, and saxophone studio class.

Dr. Carl Spaeth will perform with artists Jared Deck and Brennin Hunt on June 2, 2017 at The State Theater. Deck is one of Rolling Stone's "New Country Artists You Should Know" and winner of the Woodie Guthrie Songwriting Contest. Brennin is a Nashville based singer/songwriter, X-Factor alum, and also one of Rolling Stone's "New Country Artists You Should Know."

Ethan Bortnick: Generations of Music

In April 2017, Spaeth performed solo tenor saxophone and orchestral clarinet in Ethan Bortnick's national PBS Special called "Generations of Music," which featured special guest, Peter Yarrow, from Peter, Paul and Mary.​

 On Monday, February 6, 2017, Dr. Carl Spaeth will be performing the premiere of Lhotse for alto saxophone and percussion by Steve Danyew with Dr. Aaron Ragsdale.​

October 17, 2016

On Monday, October 17, 2016, Dr. Carl Spaeth will perform a Faculty Saxophone Recital at 7:30pm Lincoln Music Hall's Peterson Recital Hall. Spaeth is Instructor of Saxophone and Jazz at SDSU. The program will open with an arrangement of Buxtehude's Prelude in C Major for organ. Frederick Hemke's arrangement of the piece is written for alto saxophone, and Dr. John Walker will be accompanying on the organ. Next on the program is Gotkovsky's Brilliance, a standard work for alto saxophone and piano in four movements. Then, Dr. Aaron Ragsdale will join Spaeth for Interactions by Zachary Cairns, written for baritone saxophone and percussion. Following an intermission, Spaeth will take the stage to perform The Seventh Healing Song of John Joseph (Blue), a piece for alto saxophone and electronics. Then, he and Walker will perform another standard work for alto saxophone and piano titled Fuzzy Bird Sonata. Finally, he will perform a famous jazz standard by Sonny Rollins called Tenor Madness. For the final number, Spaeth will be joined by SDSU Jazz Combo I as well as dancers Carly Clemen and Ashley Philips. The recital is sure to have something enjoyable for each member in the audience, featuring music composed during the 17th century and as recently as 2014.
